Last night had been the big night to celebrate. The ring of a new year
always filled people with the optimism that this coming year simply
had to be better than the last.
But this year was different, in a frightening sort of way. There
were terrorist threats, or so the government said. Security was so
obvious, as uniformed and plainclothed police officers patrolled the
streets, many of them armed to the teeth with their big, bad automatic
weapons. It was like we had been invaded, and the invaders were us.
For Dennis, Tom and Allan, nothing was going to stop them from
partying. "Bring on the booze," they said as they entered the
party at Maven's Tap. They weren't afraid of those terrorists. If
they came to town, these guys knew they could handle them.
The night passed. Midnight came and went. And the next day the
three all woke up with major hangovers.
"See, I told you there were no terrorists. That's what they try to
do.....keep people afraid so they can control us like sheeple," said
Allan.
Nope, there was no terrorist attack. In fact the only terror these
guys can see in the future is what will happen later tonight.
I guess maybe someone should tell them there really was a terrorist
attack last night, though many might not consider it to be a bad
thing. Like Tom, Allan and Dennis.

Off to a good start.
